As everyone in the world knows, we are currently experiencing the Coronavirus crisis. There’s people with no jobs or loss of hours/loss of income, no food on store shelves, churches closed, social isolation, etc. We are living in terrible times and I haven’t seen anything like this in my whole life and I’ve been around for decades!! There are many people living in worry and fear, despite the Crazy times we do NOT need to be Afraid!!
Fear is WORSE than the Coronavirus itself!! I heard on the radio that a person who did NOT have any illness himself, just turned on the news and heard about all that was going on and Died. It’s proof FEAR KILLS!! Not always literally, but it kills our spirits, takes us further away from people, and STOPS us from doing God’s work…it needs to STOP NOW!!
Yes the Coronavirus is real, yes it’s a worldy crisis, yes we need to take care of ourselves and kids, yes we need to vigilant, but we do NOT need to be Afraid. Jesus says many times in the Bible “Do NOT be Afraid!!”
This is the time to TRUST God and know that we are NOT alone!! It’s the time to pray joyfully!! The best pill for fear is Gratitude!!
♥ If you’re at home because there’s no work, be grateful.
♥ If you’re lucky enough to be able to work from home, be grateful.
♥ If you have work, be grateful.
♥ If you have money in your bank account, be grateful.
♥ If you’re at home with your kids, be grateful.
♥ If you have food to eat, be grateful.
♥ If you are able to talk to someone, be grateful.
Find any and everything to be thankful for. It will make you feel better as well!! This is the BEST medicine for Happiness!!
If you’re at home, don’t waste your time listening to the terrible news and watching TV. Be productive with your time:
♥ Read the Bible
♥ Pray More/Learn a new prayer
♥ Read a new book: check out Miracles Exist in Today’s World and/or book reviews
♥ Learn something new with these Online Summits
♥ Spend time with your kids: Remember it’s the time that counts!!
♥ Take extra time to clean those closets or other parts of the home that need it
♥ Talk with your spouse or have a date night/day indoors
♥ Spend time with your hobbies
♥ Workout/get your body moving
♥ Get outside, if you can. Nature and fresh air will always make you feel better!!
♥ GET CREATIVE and do something PRODUCTIVE!!
Even though churches may be closed, daily Catholic Mass can still be seen on EWTN or heard on the radio 1260 AM. As long as you have a clean heart, you can still receive Spiritual Communion. If not, please say the Act of Contrition and ask God for forgiveness in order to receive the Spiritual Communion.
Now is also the time to pray PSALM 91. It’s is a very beautiful and powerful Psalm that offers protection, especially in times like these. You can find it below:
PSALM 91
Security Under God’s Protection
I
1 You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High,*
who abide in the shade of the Almighty,*
2 Say to the LORD, “My refuge and fortress,
my God in whom I trust.”a
3 He will rescue you from the fowler’s snare,
from the destroying plague,
4 He will shelter you with his pinions,
and under his wings you may take refuge;b
his faithfulness is a protecting shield.
5 You shall not fear the terror of the night
nor the arrow that flies by day,c
6 Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness,
nor the plague that ravages at noon.d
7 Though a thousand fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
near you it shall not come.
8 You need simply watch;
the punishment of the wicked you will see.e
9 Because you have the LORD for your refuge
and have made the Most High your stronghold,
10 No evil shall befall you,
no affliction come near your tent.f
11*For he commands his angels with regard to you,g
to guard you wherever you go.h
12 With their hands they shall support you,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.i
13 You can tread upon the asp and the viper,
trample the lion and the dragon.j
II
14 Because he clings to me I will deliver him;
because he knows my name I will set him on high.k
15 He will call upon me and I will answer;l
I will be with him in distress;m
I will deliver him and give him honor.
16 With length of days I will satisfy him,
and fill him with my saving power.n
* [Psalm 91] A prayer of someone who has taken refuge in the Lord, possibly within the Temple (Ps 91:1–2). The psalmist is confident that God’s presence will protect the people in every dangerous situation (Ps 91:3–13). The final verses are an oracle of salvation promising salvation to those who trust in God (Ps 91:14–16).
* [91:1] The shelter of the Most High: basically “hiding place” but in the Psalms a designation for the protected Temple precincts, cf. Ps 27:5; 31:21; 61:5. The shade of the Almighty: lit., “the shadow of the wings of the Almighty,” cf. Ps 17:8; 36:8; 57:2; 63:8. Ps 91:4 makes clear that the shadow is an image of the safety afforded by the outstretched wings of the cherubim in the holy of holies.
