The Feast of the Transfiguration is on August 6th. The event of the Transfiguration is spoken of in the Bible:
Before Jesus entered Jerusalem, he brought with him Peter, James, and John (his disciples) to the high point of Mount Tabor. As Jesus was praying on the mountain his disciples saw that he was transfigured, “his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light” (Matthew 17:2) The disciples also saw the Old Testament prophets, Moses and Elijah standing there with him and spoke of the suffering and death that was ahead of Christ after entering Jerusalem. They also heard a voice that came from a bright cloud that casted a shadow over them that said “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him” (Matthew 17:5). This had scared the disciples and they fell prostrate. But Jesus came up to them, touched them, and said “Rise and do not be afraid” (Matthew 17:7). When the disciples looked up they saw no one but Jesus. This is known as the Transfiguration.
Oh Jesus change our sorrows and worries into joy and hope! We should change our negative thoughts and actions and work on our weaknesses into positive thoughts and actions. It’s never too late to change! Jesus will help us get through, but we have to take action. Taking the first step is always up to us. God the Father is telling us to listen to the teachings of his son, Jesus since that is why he sent him on Earth in the first place. Analyzing my own life, there would have been less problems and worries if I had listened to Jesus and His Commandments. If we listen to the Commandments which are the rules that God has given us we can avoid many issues, worries, and anxieties. Let us turn to the Bible and listen to Jesus and his teachings. Jesus told the disciples that were with him on that mountain to rise up and not be afraid, that is the advice that He gives us when we are in terrible circumstances in our own lives. We can call on Jesus for help and He will give us his hand so we can rise up and not be afraid.
God Bless,
Dana
