This is the shorter and smaller version of the The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts by Gary Chapman and it is also called the gift version. It was given as a gift to my husband and I for our wedding almost 5 years ago and we haven’t gotten a chance to read it until now (at least I have). It is only 80 pages long and is perfect for married couples to read, especially for those who are extremely busy. It discusses the 5 love languages in brief terms as compared to the full sized version, but it does provide the concept of the 5 love languages. It is pocket-sized as it can fit into a purse or possibly a man’s pocket. Given that description the pages are very small, but do describe each love language and also provide short descriptions and examples of each. There are also tips provided in each love language chapter and short summaries at the end, if your spouse has that particular primary love language of what you can do to keep his/her love tank full. There are a total of 7 chapters the beginning chapter, a chapter for each love language, and an ending chapter. I recommend this book as a great gift to any married couple that does not have the time or does not enjoy reading long books. I would not wait almost 5 years into the marriage like I have, but very early on. It will give you a different insight on love and make your marriage better, by providing you with the way your spouse will feel most loved. After all, we all want to feel loved in the way we most feel loved, right?? After reading this book, if you don’t know for sure what either your or your spouse’s love language is, you can take the quiz here. It definitely revealed to me my primary love language that I agreed with and it had my husband’s primary love language head on. Go ahead and grab that book here and start exploring your and your spouse’s love language!! Prefer the full-sized version?? Check out my review here. Want to know how to apply this concept to children?? Check out the version for how to apply it to children here. Have fun and start loving each other the love language way!! 🙂
Why I love it: It’s short, engaging, and insightful.
Have you read The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts (the gift-sized version)?? What did you think?? Did it help you think about your love in marriage differently?? Have you read it early on in marriage or later on??
